Plarium Michigan Summary

Plarium Michigan Studio exists to guide the vision and execution of next generation mobile game development projects. With an emphasis on high quality, scientific game design, the Plarium Michigan team manages artistic and programming production and requirements of our sister studio in Europe, in order to prototype and ultimately produce the next mega-hit. The Plarium Michigan team is also responsible for all aspects of the project's game design - from systems design, content/level design, play balance, narrative elements, and UI/user experience.

The Plarium Michigan team consists of industry veterans with experience managing remote teams across a variety of game genres. We believe strongly in enabling a goal oriented, scientific game design culture, with a passion for producing quality experiences. We believe that current mobile titles are scratching the surface of what the platform has to offer, and we aim to produce deep games that utilize the platform like no other has. We aim to bring new experiences to mobile by marrying engaging, well designed core gameplay with the compelling systems design of free to play games.

About You

You're a passionate, product-focused game designer with a background in free to play mobile games. You have the ability to work within a number of systems and tools over with a wide range of content. You must be able to iterate and refine their content given many different development challenges. You're undeterred by impediments, and capable of self-managing daily tasks in pursuit of larger long term goals.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll work with the game design team in the creation, analysis, and improvement of new game features and content.
You'll be responsible for the configuration and implementation of game content.
You'll work with project managers in creation and tracking of tasks necessary to support design goals
You'll work with the development team in the creation and iteration of design tools.
You'll be expected to maintain game design documentation related to the content you're designing.
You'll be expected to effectively track and communicate upcoming content changes in order to support both development and update cycles.

Requirements

At least 2 year experience working on free to play mobile games in a design capacity, including some experience with live operations and content updates.
Experienced in designing complex gameplay features, and in the communication of relevant details to other departments to facilitate creation.
Must be extremely detail oriented and organized, especially in the documentation and tracking of details relevant to design settings.
Modest technical proficiency to work with tools and features to implement design content and troubleshoot as needed.
Moderate understanding of technical concepts relating to video game creation, at least in support of basic troubleshooting or bug reporting when tools aren't working.
Passion for both creating and playing games (RPGs are a plus).
Proficient at self-management of tasks.

Plusses

Quantitative Bachelor's (or higher) degree, such as Economics, Statistics, Math, Computer Science, or Game Design
Experience being the lead designer on a mobile free to play title
Previous experience in a leadership role over a portion of a game development project (mobile or otherwise)
Experience in other areas of the game design workflow (content creation, narrative, etc)
Technical background
Have worked in a major role on previous mobile titles in that met large-scale success
